This leads to a drop in the oxygen level in the blood and can have significant health consequences such as heart disease, strokes and high blood pressure. According to studies, up to 18% of the population in Germany suffer from sleep apnea, but 80% of these cases remain undetected.

With its Snorefox app, Diametos has developed a revolutionary solution that makes it possible to detect sleep apnoea easily and conveniently at home. The app simply uses a smartphone and records snoring and breathing noises during sleep, which are analyzed by an algorithm. The user receives a risk score and clear recommendations for action, such as contacting a sleep doctor.

First contact and the start of a successful collaboration

The first contact between Diametos and Mobil Krankenkasse came about during an Insurance Digital Health event. Startups were able to present their solutions to health insurance companies in a speed-dating format. Heiko Butz, founder of Diametos, recalls: "The health insurance companies immediately understood the potential of our solution. The possibility of detecting secondary illnesses at an early stage and thus saving costs was very convincing for them."

Markus Soyke explains: "We saw a short presentation by Diametos and then realized in a speed dating format that their solution could be an interesting case for us." As Snorefox is a certified medical product, the two partners were able to get down to detailed planning and start implementation.

With enthusiasm and a clear common goal in mind, the partnership between Diametos and Mobil Krankenkasse was quickly concretized. The partnership was then officially launched. "The collaboration with Mobil Krankenkasse was very cooperative and goal-oriented right from the start. Both sides see the great added value that the early detection of sleep apnea brings for the insured," reports Heiko Butz.

One particular aspect of the collaboration is open and constructive communication. Together, we discussed what stage of development the product needs to be at in order to be attractive and how the process is designed if a medical anomaly is identified. This ensures that users receive the right support when needed.

The advantages for insured persons

By integrating Snorefox into the scope of services offered by Mobil Krankenkasse, policyholders benefit directly. They can download and use the app free of charge to identify a possible risk of sleep apnea. The app not only provides a risk score, but also directs users to further information and suitable medical professionals. "Our aim is to empower people to take their health into their own hands and take action in good time," says Butz.

One remarkable result after just a few days was that around 51% of users showed medically relevant abnormalities that required a medical examination. "This shows the added value of our solution: with relatively little effort, we can identify insured persons who have a problem and steer them into the care pathway," says Soyke.

The test phase is continuing and the aim is to reach a certain number of users in order to decide whether the service will be continued in the long term. Various aspects such as marketing and the types of devices supported are currently being discussed.

The cooperation with Mobil Krankenkasse is just the beginning. Diametos plans to get more health insurance companies on board to increase the reach of Snorefox and thus help even more people. "Every health insurance company that we can convince is another step towards a healthier Germany," emphasizes Butz. The vision is clear: a comprehensive partnership with many health insurance companies that include Snorefox as an integral part of their service catalog.
