Where innovation meets implementation – a look back at Insuring Digital Health 2025

When health insurance companies and healthcare start-ups come together, the result is more than just networking: it creates momentum.

This was impressively demonstrated again this year at Insuring Digital Health 2025, the matching event organized by 5-HT Chemistry & Health, which took place once more at our partner CUBEX ONE on October 8, 2025.

This is where digital health innovations meet health insurance companies, ideas meet decision-makers, and visions meet concrete implementation. It was clear from the very first minutes: this event thrives on energy, openness, and a genuine desire to collaborate.

Focus on agenda and concept

What makes Insuring Digital Health so special is its consistent format: compact, curated, and collaborative.

After the opening by the 5-HT team, Birgit Härtle from InnoNet HealthEconomy e. V. kicked off the day with a keynote speech on the role of networks in the digital health industry. The focus was clearly on the question: How can health insurance companies specifically promote innovation in order to improve patient care in the long term?

A special highlight followed shortly afterwards: Oliver Harks (GWQ ServicePlus AG) and Jan B. Elsner (Skinuvita) presented their successful collaboration – a partnership that began exactly one year ago at Insuring Digital Health 2024. Their success story impressively demonstrated what happens when start-ups and health insurance companies go beyond exchange and move on to implementation.

Then things got intense: in two pitch sessions, nine selected start-ups presented their digital healthcare solutions – ranging from AI-supported skin cancer prevention and pain therapy apps to tools for mental health and nutrition. This was followed by the popular 1:1 matchmaking sessions, where health insurance companies and startups found concrete points of contact for cooperation in short, focused discussions.

The result: numerous new contacts, ideas, and potential projects that pave the way from innovation to standard care.

Building bridges between innovation and healthcare

Whether established health insurance companies or young entrepreneurs, all participants agreed that cooperation is the only way to make the German healthcare system fit for the future.

Start-ups used the event to initiate initial pilot projects and obtain feedback directly from practitioners. Health insurance companies, in turn, appreciated the opportunity to gain early insights into innovative care concepts and to work together on integrating them into existing structures.

The result: new collaborations, valuable insights, and a shared understanding that digital health is not just a trend, but a necessity.

The success of 2025 confirms that Insuring Digital Health has a firm place in the healthcare ecosystem calendar.

The next date — October 8, 2026 — is already marked in the calendars of many participants.

Until then, the team at 5-HT Chemistry & Health will continue to work on building new bridges between start-ups, health insurance companies, and patients – because only by working together can the healthcare system be digitized in a sustainable way.
