Successful student projects with companies from the region - that's the 5-HT Digital Qualifier!

In a proven cooperation between universities and companies from the region, students on the Master's degree course in Information Systems led by Prof. Dr. Martin Selchert at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society once again spent a semester working on challenging issues using the Design Thinking methodology.

At the final event on June 13, the students presented and discussed their results in front of fellow students and company representatives. Prof. Selchert said: "This was another very good example of applied science! We received comments from the companies such as: "We were initially heading in the wrong direction - you have given us valuable new insights!", "Great tip, we will approach the customer segment in this way" or "We will definitely implement your suggestions".

Throughout the semester, students apply design thinking, an iterative, experimental and user-centered approach, to creatively develop innovative solutions for non-trivial challenges. The end result is concrete prototypes: Applications, processes, products, services, new forms of customer, employee or supplier interaction or knowledge management.

This semester, the students worked on challenges from the following companies:

• MVV Regioplan

• Münch Chemie

Alexander Böser, Senior Innovation Lead Chemistry at 5-HT Chemistry & Health, was impressed by the depth and breadth of the solutions developed: "The students showed a lot of initiative in developing solutions for their respective challenge from a wide variety of perspectives. These solutions were also very well received by the challenge donors, who thanked the students several times."
