Holistic health in the workplace: How Mavie Work is rethinking prevention
Corinna Herrmann
Mental strain, lack of exercise, and stress are key challenges for companies and their employees today. This is exactly where Mavie Work comes in: with a combination of personal counseling, digital programs, and individual lifestyle checks, they create low-threshold access to effective support—directly in the everyday lives of employees.
In conversation with Michael Theodossiou, Managing Director at Mavie Work Germany, we learn how the company makes prevention tangible, what added value it offers employers and insurers, and why the topic of “corporate health” needs to be rethought right now.

How would you explain your solution to a healthcare professional in three sentences?
Our solution combines personal counseling (from psychosocial support as part of the EAP to coaching in exercise and nutrition) with lifestyle checks at work and digital programs. This gives employees easy, low-threshold access to effective support. Companies benefit from an integrated, measurable health portfolio that strengthens both mental and physical health.
What problem motivated you to found Mavie Work?
Mental stress, lack of exercise, and unhealthy lifestyles are key drivers of sick days and productivity losses. Often, this is because prevention measures are implemented too late or are too complicated. We wanted to break down barriers and reach people directly in their everyday lives, whether at work or at home. Our goal: to provide early support, strengthen health literacy, and show how small steps can lead to noticeable changes in the long term.
How do you convince pharmaceutical companies, health insurance companies, insurers or other potential customers to set up a pilot project with you?
We design programs that strengthen both mental and physical health in the workplace. Effective, measurable, and internationally scalable. Our approach combines prevention and care in a way that makes it easy for employees to get started, stay motivated, and make real progress. On-site services, digital solutions, and personal counseling work together seamlessly to lower barriers, increase participation, and promote lasting change.
With 8 countries in CEE, 36 consulting locations, over 160 employees, 16 languages, more than 40 years of experience, and over 900 corporate clients, we are now one of the leading providers of holistic occupational health services in the region.
We have now moved beyond the pilot stage. Together with partners from the insurance industry and other sectors, we have developed market-ready, modularly adaptable products that can be flexibly integrated into existing structures and provide companies with clear differentiation, measurable health progress, and a robust ROI.
Who are your current customers (groups) and who are the potential customers?
Our customers are employers from all industries, insurers, and health insurance companies that invest in the mental and physical health of their employees, including Allianz, BARMER, AXA, TARGOBANK, Siemens, and Delivery Hero. Potential customers are companies of all sizes that aim to promote the health, motivation, and performance of their teams, as well as insurers that want to expand their offerings with effective corporate health modules. We solve the problem of fragmented, underutilized measures by combining mental and physical health in a modular, measurable program that can be flexibly integrated into existing structures.
Where do you see yourselves in 3 years' time and how can 5-HT support you?
In three years, we want to be the leading provider of holistic corporate health solutions in Germany, Austria, and CEE, with a measurable impact on the health of millions of employees. 5-HT can support us with access to new corporate and insurance partners, strategic collaborations, and visibility in the health and insurance industry.

You took part in 5-HT X-linker "Innovation in occupational health" in May 2025. What is your impression of the event and what have you gained from participating (so far)?
It was a fantastic event, and the solutions presented — from corporate customers to young startups — show that the market is ready for real innovation. It is crucial that ideas do not stand alone, but rather interlock. Only through the smart integration of various measures can prevention offerings unfold their full potential. Such formats are important because they enable genuine exchange and initiate new partnerships. We experienced a day full of fresh perspectives, strong use cases, and intensive discussions in Mainz.
