Reproductive health as part of workplace wellbeing? That’s exactly where Onuava comes in. The Health startup offers a digital B2B platform that brings topics like fertility, social freezing, menopause, and men’s health into the workplace – evidence-based, inclusive, and tax-efficient.
In May 2025, Onuava presented its innovative solution at the 5-HT X-linker “Innovation in Corporate Health Management”, impressing with a holistic approach to reproductive health at work.
In our interview, Dr. Julia Reichert, Co-Founder of Onuava, shares how personal experience inspired the idea, why fertility benefits are more than just a perk, and how companies can gain from a modern, inclusive approach to health.
How would you explain your solution to a healthcare professional in three sentences?
Onuava is a digital B2B platform for reproductive health in occupational health management: We offer reliable information, anonymous advice from experts, and a novel insurance product that provides financial assistance for fertility treatments and social freezing.

What problem motivated you to found Onuava?
The idea for Onuava arose from personal experience. One of the founders had her three children through fertility treatment and experienced firsthand how difficult it is to balance fertility treatment with professional life. Infertility is not a marginal issue, as one in six people are affected by it during their lifetime. Menopause and men's health also have a significant impact on work. Over 25 percent of women reduce their working hours during menopause. Reproductive health affects us all, but until now there has been no structured solution in the workplace. That is exactly what we want to change with Onuava.
How do you convince pharmaceutical companies, health insurance companies, insurers or other potential customers to set up a pilot project with you?
We offer a unique, holistic solution for reproductive health in the workplace that is medically sound, digitally integrated, and unparalleled in Europe. Onuava takes a comprehensive approach to reproductive health for all lifestyles, regardless of gender or lifestyle. Our services range from social freezing, fertility treatment, and rainbow families to single motherhood, pregnancy, menopause, and men's health.
Our biggest USP is our new “Fertility+” insurance. For the first time in Europe, we are offering financial subsidies for fertility treatments and social freezing, fully employer-funded, tax-efficient, and non-discriminatory for all employees.
A look at the US and the UK shows the effect such benefits have. Employees in companies with fertility benefits are more loyal, more motivated, and stay with the company significantly longer. Especially in times of skills shortages and demographic change, companies can position themselves as modern, family-friendly employers and attract and retain young talent in particular.
A pilot project with us opens up the opportunity to actively shape a socially relevant topic and at the same time position yourself strategically in the market with a partner who combines expertise, experience, and implementation strength.
Who are your current customers (groups) and who are the potential customers?
Our customer portfolio ranges from startups to medium-sized companies to large corporations, with a particular focus on companies in the banking and pharmaceutical sectors. We currently specialize in the DACH region — both linguistically and through the expertise of our multidisciplinary experts. Our services can be digitally integrated and are aimed at companies of all sizes. Our long-term goal is to expand throughout the DACH region and become the leading point of contact for reproductive health benefits in German-speaking countries.
Where do you see yourselves in 3 years' time and how can 5-HT support you?
In three years, we want to reach 10% of medium-sized and large companies in the DACH region with our Reproductive Health Benefits. Demand is high, but the market has hardly been tapped yet. 5-HT can help us establish new contacts in healthcare, industry, and insurance, and place our solution with potential customers in a targeted manner.

You took part in 5-HT X-linker "Innovation in occupational health" in May 2025. What is your impression of the event and what have you gained from participating (so far)?
The event was very well organized and offered a clear focus on relevant innovations in occupational health management. The direct exchange with companies and experts from the healthcare sector was particularly valuable for us. We were able to make numerous new contacts with whom we are still in dialogue. Some of them have already signaled interest in pilot projects.
