How can companies in the process industry leverage potential for digital innovation? How can they find out about new solutions? How can they get in touch with their providers?

Our new event format "Digital Manufacturing for Process Industries" has addressed this issue. Together with our cooperation partner EIT Manufacturing, we were able to offer a platform for networking between start-ups and the process industry to promote the exchange of digital solutions.

The focus of the event, which was held online on 26 October, was on the topics of plant monitoring, energy efficiency and predictive maintenance. The aim is to promote an optimal fit between industry needs and digital solutions from start-ups.

Kick-off for a successful event

After the welcome by Wolfgang Kniejski from EIT Manufacturing and Stefan Kohl, 5-HT Digital Hub Chemistry & Health, who both briefly presented the ambitions of their organisations, the event moved on to the keynote speech.

Franz-Josef Pohle from Accenture Industry X spoke about "Industrial Work in Transition - the Transformation of Blue Collar Work in the Digital Age". He emphasised above all the rapid development towards Industry X and digitalisation in industry. "Technological skills are the basis for success," says Pohle. In addition to the core topics and the opportunities they present, he gave the startups a lot of input on how to work in a progressive way.

Ten start-ups present digital solutions

After the inspiring words of our speakers, it got serious. Now our ten selected startups were in the spotlight. They presented their digital solutions for the process industry in thematically focused and short pitches to the online audience.

These ten startups wowed the audience with their digital solutions for the process industry:

- etalytics GmbH

- Energy Robotics

- Gemsotec BV

- Intelligent Data Analytics GmbH & Co. KG

- Industrial Analytics IA GmbH

- inevvo solutions GmbH & Co. KG

- LexaTexer - Enterprise AI

- OndoSense GmbH - Smart Sensor Solutions

- Reliable Realtime Radio Communications GmbH

- Sensorise GmbH

Startups meet the big players in the industry

The day was not over for the start-ups with the pitches: next on the agenda was the exclusive Corporate Speed Dating. As for past events, we were again able to attract relevant players for an exciting exchange: ROWE MINERALÖLWERK GMBH; IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH; MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS; Lipoid Kosmetik AG; Kamer-Werke GmbH; Volkswagen AG, MEWA Textil-Management and Westfalen AG. In our virtual meeting rooms, the start-ups were able to exchange ideas with the corporates and take the opportunity to arrange promising follow-up meetings for future cooperation.

Moderation 5-HT Digital Hub Chemistry & Health

The event was moderated by Max Huber, 5-HT Digital Hub Chemistry & Health. "Our goal is to drive digitalisation opportunities in the process industry by connecting startups with digital solutions with relevant players. We are excited to see what collaborations emerge from the conversations."

The setting was embedded in a virtual event space including an exhibition area to showcase the range of services offered by the participating startups, which allowed the audience to fully immerse and interact in the 3D virtual environment.

We are pleased about the consistently very positive feedback from the participants and are excited to see what collaborations will emerge between the startups and corporates.

On behalf of the entire 5-HT team, we would like to thank EIT Manufacturing for the pleasant cooperation and all participants for the exciting exchange.
