Detoxi Health: A better digital life balance with an innovative app

Dr. Florian Caspari, CEO and founder of detoxi Health, wants to use his app to reduce digital stress and improve the digital life balance. In an interview, he explains the solution and his plans to be established in the primary healthcare market with his innovative care solutions in three years' time.

How would you explain your solution to a healthcare professional in three sentences?

"The detoxi Health app helps you to reduce digital stress, spend less time on your smartphone and get your digital life balance in order. The app contains more than 300 life hacks developed by experts in medicine, psychology and health science."

What problem motivated you to found the company?

"Problematic online usage behavior is not a marginal problem in society, but affects many people. For example, almost a quarter of children and young people in Germany exhibit risky usage behavior when gaming, social media or streaming - the figure for adults is still 13%. We help people to develop a healthy relationship with digital media. To this end, we are developing digital prevention offers and services for treating online addiction."

How do you convince a pharmaceutical company, health insurance company, insurance company or other potential customer to set up a pilot project with you?

"Prevention is often underestimated and yet prevention is crucial in the healthcare system. The right preventative measures can help to prevent illness, improve quality of life and reduce costs in the healthcare system. Excessive media consumption, problematic online behavior and online addiction can be effectively tackled through appropriate prevention measures. To date, there are no individual-oriented prevention programs for digital stress or online addiction. The aim of our first digital prevention offer in the form of an app is to help participants achieve a healthy balance between the use of digital technologies and the offline world and thus reduce digital stress and the associated negative health effects."

Who are your current customers (groups) and who are the potential customers?

"Our core market is currently the DACH region. The target group of our app in the B2C sector are young people and adults with subjectively high levels of digital stress and people who perceive their online time as problematic. Participants should be open to reflecting on their habits and be willing to make changes to their behavior.

In the B2B sector, our customers are health insurance companies and companies that would like to make our app available to their policyholders or employees as a preventative measure."

Where do you see yourselves in 3 years and how can 5-HT support you?

"In 3 years, we want to have firmly established our innovative care solutions in the primary healthcare market in Germany. We also want to make our apps available in other languages and countries.

5-HT's strong network can help us gain access to established players in the healthcare market. It is also difficult for start-ups to gain sufficient attention through PR measures. We also expect a lot from 5-HT here."
